Tommy Coleman

Sebatian Inlet with Tommy and Chase. by Nathaniel Harrington

Its already been a couple weeks since we had a decent day of surf, these summer lulls are setting in and its making my head hurt. On the other hand its been awesome to get out and fish, explore more of Florida while the ocean lays flat, which has really been the reason this blog post hasn't happened sooner.

In that, these shots are from a fun day spent at Sebastian Inlet with Tommy Coleman and Chase Modelski. Also there are a few good images of surf coach Michel Flores and and South African Rigard Smit.

It was another day of shooting from shore for me as my water housing is getting some leak repairs done. I guess when you use it as much as I do maintenance is required. :/

They surfed, we fished, we surfed some more soaking up every bit of swell we could before this long flat spell. Check it out.

Chase Modelski is a ripper! Hard to believe I haven't linked up with him sooner, but glad I have now.

My daughter River hanging out with me on the beach. Its pretty rad to be able to bring her to work. She's styling some VonZipper's and a lot of SunBum!

Chase.

There's only one person I have ever seen rip tiny waves apart like Tommy Coleman, and that is his surf coach Michel Flores. This Brazilian knows how to get performance out of his surf boards in every condition.

Chase Modelski reminds me of Chauncey Robinson. I'm seeing a lot of similarities in the way these guys surf.

Tommy's backhand snap is ridiculously dangerous.

And his fin release moves nail are sure to grab attention.

I haven't seen Blake Spier much lately, looks like he is always heading to cool places on planet earth, stoked to link up with him on this classic Sebastian Inlet first peak air revo.

Groms.

Since I was shooting from the beach I figured I may as well make a short edit. Tommy Coleman has his air revo's on lock making this easy.

That's all from one day. So much fun.

Thanks a lot for checking into my site, hope you enjoyed.

Fluid Magazine. Cover #3 and El Nino Story. by Nathaniel Harrington

Its a great day when you get the notification that you have one more cover in the bag. Today I landed my third cover, second this month(#2 story coming soon).

Matthew Glenn and I linked up on a few decent barrels down south this past February where we got this shot now featured as page #1 in Fluid Magazine.  Its an honor and a privilege, so stoked!

Make sure to flip over to the El Nino story to check out several more of my shots including some of Daniel Glenn, Tommy Coleman, and a beautiful empty barrel shot to kick it off.

Again Thanks Fluid Mag and Matthew!

ASF Surf Comp #2. by Nathaniel Harrington

The ASF Surf Comp Series has been a blast to watch and photograph. Comp #2 was held last week at Paradise Beach Park in Melbourne, Florida. I couldn't be more stoked to spend a beautiful day at the beach supporting the local groms and photographing awesome surf.

First light showing us smaller, but fun and peaky surf.

I always have enjoyed the view from the line-up more.. The morning started out with fantastic conditions.

The surf was pretty much all time for groms like Tommy Coleman, who can actually fit into these well groomed grom-sized barrels.

Tucking in for one of the better barrels of the day, this grom was all time stoked! He's probably still thinking about that one...

Chauncey Robinson likes to start his days with powerful sweeping turns.

... and that was just the warm ups..

He was all over anything that barred, Tommy Coleman opened up his first heat with a few barrel rides, letting him easily slide into the next round.

He was all over anything that barred, Tommy Coleman opened up his first heat with a few barrel rides, letting him easily slide into the next round.

I haven't met this grom yet, but he's powerful young surfer. One more blast on the close-out to finish the wave.

As the heats were going through it was fun to watch the difference in age groups as well as the styles of surfing. Some heats it was vertical turns and fin free hacks, other heats the swell lined up for long turns and cut backs. Each heat the surfers had to adapt to the quickly changing conditions.

Another barrel from Tommy Coleman, just because.

I didn't shoot a ton of the comp itself. I got in for a few heats when the surf looked fun and when there were competitors out that I have already known. It is my goal to not be a distraction as I know that the competitors need to focus and my presence in the water could throw that off if they are not yet used to it. That being said, I will love to meet all the competitors at some point to get photos for you whether its free surfing or in a jersey. Feel free to introduce yourself to me at the next ASF Surf Comp.

A special thanks goes out to Chad Carr and Skye Robinson for all their hard work.

I had a lot of fun! Its great to see the level of competition happening in Florida, keep it up! Thanks to everyone letting me shoot photos of the action. I look forward to next time.

The comp was missing an important competitor this past week.. her name is Storm Portman. Storm had a severe surf incident very recently and is need of financial support as well as a ton of prayer. I believe that God works miracles thru healing, but also by using what He has given each one of us. If you want to know more please click the below link, if you are able please donate to help her family afford the procedures. Mahalo

ASF Surf Comp at Paradise Park. by Nathaniel Harrington

This last weekend I had the opportunity to check out local surfing at the ASF Surf Comp in Indiatlantic. The surf was a pretty melo but we were blessed with very light winds! It made for a great day. The gross were all frothing and fired up!

Here's some shots I got.

Surfers include Luke Marks, Zach Marks, Chauncey Robinson, Wiley Robinson, Blake Speir, and Tommy Coleman. There were a couple more in there who I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet..

Its great to see the surf community in Florida thriving like this! Great kids and great surfers!

Also, Make sure to check out GromSocial.com, a place for kids to get social in a safe environment!

Cheers,
