Quick trip to OBX by Nathaniel Harrington

It’s been a pretty wild year of finding all sorts of photo work outside of surfing and action sports. The work is of course awesome, it’s mostly fishing and boating or something like that so I cannot complain. However, it’s really taking me away from surf. Not the ocean, just the surf. I’ve been a little anxious waiting all winter for a real proper winter swell to hit but that just hasn’t happened this winter.

So, off to the outer banks.

Forecast kinda got sketchy for a second, but we went with our gut and the original Surfline forecast. We packed up and off we went.

It was kinda firing.

The wind forecast scared us a bit but Jason Hines was on it, utilizing at least five different forecasting sites he was a step ahead of it.

I think that’s going to do it for this post. I have a bunch of video and tons more photos so I’ll probably try to post another update.

until then, thanks for visiting my blog

Chaunchoo Pichoo the Film by Nathaniel Harrington

We just finished editing our 2018 re-cap video, “Chaunchoo Pichoo the Film”.

Chauncey Robinson and I have been working all year round to gain some clips for a Florida Surf Film. As many of you know I am a full time photographer and sell photos to brands for my income… so, this project kinda doubled the work load this year. For every photo i have of Chauncey getting barreled or doing an air I also needed one of just as much value as a video clip. With the help of Filmers/Photographers Jacob Strahlo and Jeffery O’Niell we were able to mix up a pretty good feature based mostly at Sebastian Inlet and with the exception of a great, recent trip to the Outer Banks.

We definitely had our challenges. It wasn’t that great of a year for surf down here in Florida. What opportunity we did have we made the most of. Last Winter is really why this video is even put together, those January storms last year were epic.

All that being said, it’s time to really take this project to new levels. Filming for Chauncey’s next video possibly starts this afternoon. Hopefully we can have a couple more regions in the world included but if it’s just another Florida Film we’ll do our best to represent the state to its fullest.

Let’s hope for a full year of surf and opportunities. Thank you so much for taking the time to visit OUR site and watch this video :)

I had the opportunity to do some photography for my friends, Chris & Leslie, wedding.

December 30th, 2018.

Chris Yergans and Leslie Sorenson of Vero Beach, FL tied the knot. It was a beautiful back yard setup, Intimate and fun.

Here’s a piece of the story. It was hard to choose which images to include in this gallery so I added some key moments for optimal cuteness.

Spears and Sharks, a epic dive adventure of the coast of Florida. by Nathaniel Harrington

Hey guys!

So, I know it has been a long time since my last post on here... Sorry about that. I find it a lot easier to put my time and effort into other social media, but those don't really seem to get the right message across due to a complete lack of interest people give to social platforms. It's time to bring it back here where I can tell the whole story.

Jack Hendrix, ready to hunt.

Jack Hendrix, ready to hunt.

Last week Captain Spencer Reilly ( AKA Captn Goop ) and Jack Hendrix invited me along to go spear some fish off the coast of Central Florida. Of course, I'm going.

I've done this a handful of times but with every season the fish and water change, so everytime its something new. These two days we put in out there were very new to me! I had no idea what to expect other than I was going to be swimming with sharks and we were going to be finding lots of fish. Two things I love very much.

In my mind i'm thinking we'll get out there. Shoot some fish, maybe see some sharks, maybe and hopefully get a couple chances to get some cool shots of them, and yah see where it goes from there. In reality, we were going to see a lot of sharks and billions of fish. it was full throttle.

Just being that far offshore during those flat, windless days watching the schools of blue runner disrupt the glassy surface of the ocean was great for me. It's not an experience I have had often enough to not be completely mesmerized by it, and its something I will never forget. However, seeing it from the boat and seeing it from 30 ft under is a whole different story. Most people won't jump in, and for good reason.  I found out why.

I wanted to capture some of these heart pounding moments in motion, so I did and I made a little video. Watch as Jack shoots cobia off the back of Bull Sharks, takes beautiful mangrove snapper, and wrestles a nice king fish into the pathfinder. We also ran into a school of Mahi and captain goop catches a cobia that was able to stay out of the shark mouths.

Wow. I still just think WOW when I see these.

Sometimes the Bulls just want to take a closer look... Jacks experience shows as he stays calm and lets the shark know he's not what they want to mess with.

What a captain. Spencer is such a dedicated charter captain, day after day, getting folks into the right places, and keeping an eye out on everything going on from above. Thanks legend.

There's still more I could share believe it or not. But let us skip the repetitiveness and get onto something new.

If you are curious about booking a fishing charter, and no it doesn't have to have anything to do with sharks, please contact my good friend Captain Spencer Reilly -  https://www.captaingoopcharters.com

He is an excellent angler in the Indian River County area, inshore and offshore. I highly recommend a trip with him.

Thank you all for visiting my page, give my site a look, and please share.
